Joy of arm balances and inversions (workshop)

In this half day workshop we will experiment with several different arm balances and inversions.

These postures can be challenging, so we will work up to them by going through preparatory stages. There will be no requirement to achieve headstand or handstands in three hours!

This is an intermediate level workshop and those attending should have a reasonable level of fitness and be familiar with a range of yoga postures.

What’s included

  • understanding of what’s required in the body for the chosen inversions and arm balances

  • yoga sequences and movements to prepare the body for arm balances and inversions

  • a range of different arm balances and inversions

  • pranayama

  • meditation

  • restorative relaxation

  • refreshments

  • workshop approach, with questions and practice

Why attend

If you’ve often wondered how to do a handstand or headstand (or maybe did them as a child but not since), and you’ve been coming to yoga classes for a while, this is the workshop for you.

There are lots of arm balances and inversions – we tend to mainly focus on the slightly more accessible ones such as crow and shoulderstand in classes.

In this workshop we will have time to explore some of the other inversions such as forearm inversion (peacock tail feather) and headstand, as well as hand balances such as handstand, firefly and elephant trunk pose. There are too many for us to cover in three hours, so this will be a taster.

This will be a small, informal and relaxed group, spaces limited.

This workshop is suitable for intermediate level yoga students, or those who would like to try some more challenging postures. If in any doubt, just get in touch to ask.

The workshops is not suitable for pregnant women, sorry.
